You know I love a good challenge. So when one of my good friend’s Blane approached me asking if I would train him for one of Ireland’s toughest endurance events – it was a hard proposal to pass up.
I will be working with Blane over a 10 month period to prepare him for a 250km adventure race including running, cycling, kayaking and a grueling mountain climb.
This journey will be a steep learning curve not only for Blane – but myself too. Endurance training is a relatively new territory for me so we have decided to document the whole process as a podcast.
Over the 10 months we will discover the highs and lows that comes with training for an event like this… with a few laughs along the way.
Self Help Africa
The Race was set up to help raise funds for Self Help Africa.
We are very proud to say that 100% of all funds raised through the Couch to 250k challenge will be going to such a worthy charity.
Its mission is to empower rural Africa to achieve economic independence – and on a continent where up to 75% of people rely on small-scale agriculture for their survival, Self Help believes that it is only by tackling the challenges faced by rural farming communities that real and sustained economic progress can be made across sub-Saharan Africa.
